Our school's mission is to hold faux classes where each student has the opportunity to create and evolve. Creativity is inspired and growth is cultivated from the artistic process. We work hard to ensure that all of our students have a fun and rewarding experience throughout our faux and decorative painting classes.
Although our classes typically begin at 9:00 a.m., we encourage students to arrive around 8:30. This is so that you have time to enjoy breakfast provided by us, and to get your daily dose of caffeine or OJ.
Classes begin at 9:00 a.m. and we like the day to begin by getting to know each other. An informal circle is formed where can exchange names and background information. We talk about our goals within the faux and decorative painting industry and what we hope to take from the classroom experience.
The instructor will also take time to explain a little about his or her background, and about the history of the company.
We soon get to business and turn our focus on faux finishing. Depending on the faux class, we will be working on either our sample boards, or, as in faux business or color design, we will focus on a lecture. You are encouraged to ask questions and take notes, we maintain a causal environment in which class discussion is welcome.
A hands-on method is our firm approach for learning. We strive to give you practical and real world knowledge. Techniques are first demonstrated, with emphasis on how the finishes are applied in real living spaces. Sample boards are created as a wonderful tool for hands on application as you are learning something new, and as great business tool in building your portfolio. All students have ample time and space to create sample boards for each faux finish techniques being taught. The instructor will walk around the room and offer advice and help when needed. Step-by-step guidance is offered for each board constructed.
Lunch break is usually scheduled around noon. We offer delicious catered lunches and beverages to all of our students. If someone has a dietary concern, let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate you.
After lunch we get back to work, refreshed and ready to learn. There is plenty of space allotted for drying racks, and your work will be well cared for until you are ready to take them home. Classes typically come to an end around 4:00 p.m., depending on the size of the class. When appropriate, we encourage student to utilize some "free" time at the end of the day. Experimenting with product they are interested in, asking for clarification on sophisticated techniques, and honing in on their newly acquired skills.
